Alfonso Cuarón’s 'Disclaimer' Is a Masterwork of Television* — Right Up Until Its Final Episode

Plus, Universal unveils the plot of 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' and are Brad Pitt and David Fincher planning another reunion?

Happy Friday, folks, and more importantly, Happy Labor Day weekend! I wanted to end the summer with a bang, but a certain comic book movie company didn’t get back to me in time. Oh, well!

Maybe this weekend will bring some unexpected fireworks. You never know… though you do know you can always catch fireworks on my podcast, The Hot Mic, where this week, my co-host John Rocha and I discussed the possibility of Keanu Reeves joining the Star Wars universe at some point down the line.

The fall season must be approaching, as the Venice Film Festival is currently underway, and reactions to Alfonso Cuaron’s Apple TV+ series Disclaimer* are respectful but divisive. In addition to that review, today’s newsletter features stories about the plot of the new Jurassic World movie starring Scarlett Johansson, a possible Brad Pitt-David Fincher reunion, the action novel that counts John Wick director Chad Stahelski as a big fan, Christian Bale’s surprise musical, Nicolas Winding Refn’s new sex-and-violence-filled movie, Netflix’s One Tree Hill revival, Charli XCX’s latest acting role, and my thoughts on the trailer for Paramount’s Rosemary’s Baby prequel Apartment 7A.
