Chair-vengers Assemble! Marvel Takes Five Hours to Announce 'Doomsday' Cast — “That Could’ve Been an Email”
Plus, the latest director circling Marvel's 'Blade,' a new A24 movie starring Zendaya, the latest addition to HBO's 'Harry Potter' series, and a look at Alec Baldwin's 'Rust.'

It’s Wednesday night in America. Do you know where your favorite chair is, or did the Russo brothers come to your house and steal it so that the cast of Avengers: Doomsday could sit down, much to Christopher Nolan’s chagrin?
I can’t tell you the movie I saw last night, so we’ll skip that part of the newsletter, though I should mention that I was very disappointed by Law & Order’s cop-out ending last week when the venerable NBC series toothlessly tackled the Luigi Mangione case.
Earlier today, I published my predictions for CinemaCon ahead of next week’s industry confab in Las Vegas, and tonight, you’ll read my take on Marvel’s five-hour reveal of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, as well other stray bits and bobs from my MCU notebook.
There are also items about Zendaya teaming up with Barry Jenkins at A24, Jonathan Majors taking revenge on a group of Harlem teens, Nick Frost joining HBO’s Harry Potter series, CBS giving up on the 12:30 a.m. timeslot, and the latest blow to Sundance’s chances of returning to Utah. Plus, a look at the trailer for Alec Baldwin’s western Rust. Perhaps you’ve heard of it?
