Exclusive: 'Heretic's Chloe East Lands Lead in New Comedy From Kendrick Lamar and 'South Park' Creators

Plus, WB unveils a new animated movie from DC Studios that features Batman and two Robins, as well as the first trailer for Clint Eastwood's courtroom drama 'Juror #2.'

Happy Tuesday, folks!

I’ve been kicking myself for not having seen Beetlejuice Beetlejuice yet, but I won’t have to beat myself up too much longer, as Warner Bros. announced that Tim Burton’s sequel will be available on PVOD on Oct. 8 — far earlier than expected, given how well the movie has performed in theaters. It’s probably a smart move by WB, as a lot of folks will be willing to pay to watch that one at home this month in celebration of Spooky Season.

Of course, what could be spookier than a viewership story about Apple TV+, which might as well be a ghost town? Deadline won the raffle for a chance to carry the streamer’s water, reporting that its George Clooney-Brad Pitt movie Wolfs became the most viewed movie in its history over the weekend. Wowzer!

So… more people watched Wolfs in four days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) than watched Killers of the Flower Moon or Napoleon in the months and months they’ve been on the service? Is that really a win for Apple, or is the streamer just telling on itself?

Naturally, Apple offered nothing in the way of specific numbers, but Deadline was told that Wolfs boosted viewership by nearly 30 percent week over week on the service — a given, seeing as how the previous week didn’t have a new Clooney-Pitt movie streaming. What is the point of even mentioning the week-over-week stat? It’s useless!

Anyway, in tonight’s newsletter, you’ll read about who has landed the female lead in the new Paramount comedy from Kendrick Lamar and South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

There are also stories about DC’s new animated movie featuring Batman and not one but two Robins, the return of three-time Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis, Scream 7’s new release date, and WB’s trailer for Clint Eastwood’s courtroom drama Juror #2 starring Nicholas Hoult.
