What Does Zendaya’s Casting in Christopher Nolan’s Next Movie Mean for Season 3 of 'Euphoria'?

Plus, HBO eyes Mark Rylance for its 'Harry Potter' TV series, Gal Gadot runs toward 'The Runner,' and I review Ridley Scott's swords-and-sandals sequel 'Gladiator II.'

Happy Monday, folks!

It was a weird, wild weekend for yours truly. On Friday night, I stopped by Lowboy for a great smashburger before heading to the Bellwether to see Modest Mouse, who ruled. They even played “Cowboy Dan,” which fucking rocked. But when I got back to my car, which I parked a few blocks away from the venue, I discovered that it had been broken into and ransacked — the thief even stealing my apartment keys, my garage clicker, and my car registration.

I dare him to stop by for a visit…

Anyway, I filed a police report, and an insurance claim, not that I expect to be reimbursed or to retrieve what was stolen from me, but whatever. The incident put a damper on an otherwise great night, and it certainly gave me an extra edge while playing basketball the next morning.

On Sunday, I caught up with Bill Burr’s hilarious episode of Saturday Night Live — I loved “The Janitor” — and then I saw Sean Baker’s Anora again, as that film demanded a second look. I ended the weekend by meeting a friend at the COSM sports bar down in Inglewood, which may be as close to the Vegas Sphere experience as I’ll ever get.

Oh, and then on Monday morning, I woke up to the news that HBO had finally confirmed my March scoop about Bill Simmons producing a docuseries about the Boston Celtics. It’s now titled Celtics City, and it will debut sometime next year. Huzzah… and Toldja!

Tonight, you’ll read about Zendaya signing on to Christopher Nolan’s new movie and what it means — or doesn’t mean — for Season 3 of Euphoria. Plus, I review Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II and weigh in on the trailer for Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning — as well as who might replace Tom Cruise in that franchise.

There are also items about HBO’s top choice for Dumbledore in its Harry Potter series, Hiro Murai’s new samurai film at A24, the latest Ice Age sequel, and Gal Gadot’s new action movie.
