Happy Friday, folks! It’s officially Easter weekend, and I’ve got a ton of TV screeners to catch up on, including Netflix’s Ripley and HBO’s The Sympathizer.
Last night, I gorged myself on Taco Bell and rewatched The Heat with my beautiful girlfriend, who is now offering private pilates lessons in case anyone is interested.
It got me thinking… it’s insane that Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy never reteamed for a sequel to that movie, which grossed $229 million worldwide. Nothing to sneeze at!
Everyone always laments how Bridesmaids never got a sequel, and that movie perhaps more than any other would certainly merit one, but The Heat is often overlooked in the discussion, as I found myself laughing a lot last night.
So consider this a plea to director Paul Feig, writer Katie Dippold, Chernin Entertainment, and 20th Century Studios — bring back The Heat and let Bullock and McCarthy cook.
