Hot Rumor: 'Freakier Friday' Star Julia Butters Eyed to Play Kitty Pryde in Marvel’s New 'X-Men' Movie
Plus, some other casting rumors for upcoming movies from directors Ben Affleck and Gus Van Sant, and a look at Season 4 of 'The Righteous Gemstones' on HBO.
Happy Wednesday, folks!
Apologies for not sending a newsletter last night, but I was terribly sick, having spent most of the day worshipping the porcelain god.
By night, I began to feel a little bit better, especially after checking in to Season 3 of The White Lotus, which returns to HBO this month. Reviews remain under embargo, but I can’t wait to talk about the new season, having watched all six episodes sent to press.
I also squeezed in a new episode of The Pitt, and I’m going to be bummed if Noah Wyle doesn’t land an Emmy nomination for his work in this series, as he’s excellent as Dr. Robby.
This morning, I watched Amy Schumer’s R-rated Netflix comedy Kinda Pregnant, which was kinda funny, but I’m a sucker for Schumer. She’s certainly not everyone’s cup of tea, and I can see why some critics are calling this one a miscarriage of comedy — the guidance counselor is named Ms. Clit, to give you an idea of its sense of humor — but I found it to be a guilty pleasure, knowing its heart was in the right place. Sue me.
Tonight’s newsletter features a trio of hot rumors about Marvel’s new X-Men movie, Ben Affleck’s new kidnapping thriller on Netflix, and Gus Van Sant’s upcoming true-crime film.
Plus, there are items about Robert De Niro teaming up with the Russo brothers, Julia Roberts joining forces with director James Gray, Ethan Hawke reimagining a Gregory Peck classic, Zac Efron’s new comedy with Will Ferrell, the Mara sisters’ first movie together, and a look at Season 4 of The Righteous Gemstones, which returns to HBO on March 9.
