Exclusive: Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell in Talks for 'Single White Female' Reboot at 3000 Pictures

This week, I also watched George Gallo’s The Comeback Trail, which the Midnight Run scribe co-wrote with Josh Posner, and I quite liked it. Robert De Niro plays a movie producer who’s trying to kill the lead (Tommy Lee Jones) of his new western so he can collect the insurance money and pay off a debt to a gangster (Morgan Freeman).

Yes, the film was shot five years ago, but all three Oscar winners seemed to be energized by the script, as they all had that twinkle in their eyes. It’s been raining this week in Los Angeles, and as far as VOD rentals go on a rainy day, The Comeback Trail delivered exactly what I’d hoped for — a light crime comedy with a little bit of heart, soul, and old-school Hollywood magic.

Tonight, you’ll read about who Sony has its eye on for a reboot of Single White Female, the hit 1992 thriller starring Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Plus, I review Netflix’s new limited series Adolescence, which you can’t afford to miss.
